Ghana

Ghana is located in the Gulf of Guinea, on the Atlantic Ocean and at the centre of West Africa.

Ghana, formerly known as the Gold Coast, is renowned for its golden beaches, lush forests, and vibrant culture. Despite its rich and fascinating history, Ghana's past is often overshadowed by the legacy of the slave trade, as it was a central hub for the global slave trade. The country's colonial past has also left its mark, with many European slave castles still open to the public for tours.

Ghanaian traditional drumming and dance are widely celebrated across the country and play a significant role in festivals and other cultural events. The infectious energy and joy that emanate from these celebrations are known globally and provide an unforgettable experience for visitors.

Despite the challenges of harsh living conditions, Ghanaians take pride in their welcoming and safe community, making it the most peaceful country in West Africa and the third most peaceful country in all of Africa, behind Mauritius and Botswana.

Unfortunately, in recent years, Ghana has experienced a significant increase in prices, leading to hyperinflation and currency devaluation, which has impacted both the macro and micro levels of the economy. The Bank of Ghana has struggled to secure sufficient financial resources to fulfill the country's commitments, and the balance of payments has deteriorated, leading to insolvency.
